Our company was founded by Mr. Ernie Carpenter in the late 1960's. He began with one backhoe and a fresh paintjob on an old truck.
In the early days, Ernie worked tirelessly to jump start his business and soon his reputation for quality work began to spread.
In 1977, floods swept the high country of North Carolina and many of the old timber bridges that spanned our rivers and creeks were destroyed. Ernie became involved in replacing these bridges and his business began to grow.

Today our company has grown to include three generations of his family, including his son and daughter, grandsons, nephews, and neighbors.
In 1991, we became incorporated and obtained our North Carolina General Contractor License in North Carolina. Shortly after, we obtained licenses in South Carolina and Virginia.
Ernie's son, Randy Carpenter, got involved with the business at a young age and began our utilities division in the early 90's. He is now the owner/president and the person who manages operations at our company.
